An idiom with a method behind it

Turkish has kept the phrase "eşref saati" — the auspicious hour — in everyday speech for centuries. When something goes smoothly, it caught its hour; when it stalls, it missed it. The phrase is older than any app, and behind it stands an actual discipline with rules you can learn and check: electional astrology, the craft of choosing when to begin.

Electional astrology is the mirror image of horary. Horary reads the chart of a question at the moment it is asked — a moment that has already happened — and answers the question. Electional runs the other way: it selects a moment that has not arrived yet and schedules the matter to start then. Horary asks what a moment means; electional asks which coming moment serves the matter best, and puts the answer on your calendar.

Both rest on the same premise: the sky at the moment something begins is that thing's chart. A wedding hour, a signature, an opening — each has a birth chart of its own. You cannot choose your own birth moment, but you can choose your venture's. That is the whole claim of electional astrology: if the starting moment describes the enterprise, pick the moment deliberately.

The classical rules: what a good moment looks like

The classical tradition looks at the Moon first, because the Moon signifies how matters flow. For anything meant to grow, the Moon should be waxing — gaining light between new and full. It should not be void of course: a Moon that will make no further exact aspect before leaving its sign is "void", and tradition holds that matters begun then tend to drift. Best of all is a Moon applying to the benefics, Venus or Jupiter.

The Moon is necessary but not sufficient. The ruler of the house that governs your matter should be dignified — placed where it is strong — and the ruler of the Ascendant should be solid too, since the Ascendant stands for the person starting the work. For contracts, launches and paperwork, Mercury is preferred direct. A retrograde Mercury is not doom; it means re-check, re-read, and expect revisions. Work that can wait, waits; work that cannot gets an extra proofreading pass.

The sign's quality is matched to the matter. Fixed signs — Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, Aquarius — favor permanence: choose them for things meant to last. Cardinal signs — Aries, Cancer, Libra, Capricorn — favor starts: choose them for momentum. The wrong question is "which sign is good"; the right one is "good for what": a marriage wants staying power, a campaign wants a running start.

What Baby Astro’s Moon timing tool calculates

The Astro-Plus web tool compares calculated Moon contacts across the next 14 days and shows up to five qualifying intervals in date order. It needs a valid birth date, known birth time and time zone. It does not calculate a complete electional chart for an event’s location or purpose.

It compares one-hour intervals every 30 minutes from 09:30 to 22:00 in your current time zone. Moon contacts with seven natal planets within 3° are weighted for both support and tension. A day may have no interval that meets the method’s criteria. The tool says so instead of inventing a time. Its weights are Baby Astro’s interpretation, not measured probabilities of success. You do not need to postpone your plans because of an astrology score.

What an election changes — and what it does not

Use this as a reflection aid, not evidence that a time increases your chances of success. Preparation, real-world circumstances and your own judgment come first. A sky interpretation cannot promise success or failure.

Two limits are firm. Baby Astro does not time medical procedures — surgery and treatment are scheduled with your doctor. And no window is a reason to take a step you do not want to take: electional astrology chooses the hour of a decision already made; it does not make the decision for you.
