Find your North Node.

How is your North Node sign calculated?

The North Node is the direction where the Moon's tilted orbit crosses the ecliptic from south to north. The South Node is the opposite crossing. Nodes are mathematical points, not physical planets, so their zodiac positions are derived from orbital geometry. This page calculates an approximate mean North Node longitude at birth and places the South Node 180 degrees opposite it. It does not guess two unrelated placements.

Enter your birth date, recorded time if you have one, and city. The city's historical time zone helps convert a local clock reading into a UTC instant. We use tropical zodiac sectors; a Vedic or sidereal chart may attach a different sign name to the position. If you substitute a nearby city or your device lacks historical time-zone data, treat the result as approximate. The form does not save your birth details to an account.

Why can mean and true nodes disagree?

Ephemerides commonly distinguish the mean node from the oscillating true node. Baby Astro uses the mean node in this free calculator. A site set to the true node can therefore disagree close to a sign boundary. That does not automatically mean either site is broken: first compare node convention, zodiac and birth time. This page does not silently switch methods to force agreement with another chart.

Without a recorded hour we compare the mean-node sign at the start and end of your local birth date. If it stays in one sign, we show that sign but suppress an exact degree. If it crosses a boundary, we show both possible North-South axes instead of inventing a noon birth time. This check does not establish a house placement or a true-node variant. A birth record is the best next step when an exact boundary result matters to you.

How might you interpret the node axis?

In astrological tradition the South Node can symbolize familiar ways of responding, while the North Node can suggest a direction worth exploring. That is a reflective frame, not evidence of a past life, a fixed personality diagnosis or a forecast of whom you will marry. Calling the South side bad and the North side compulsory also strips the axis of useful nuance. A better question may be: which habits genuinely support me, and which unfamiliar approach would I like to try?

The sign supplies only symbolic vocabulary for that conversation. House position, aspects to planets and your lived circumstances add context; this free result does not calculate them. Start with your basic birth chart and compare the nodes with the Moon, Sun and rising sign. Do not base relationship, career, health or financial decisions on a single node sign. This tool is free; prices for deeper personal readings are shown separately on the plan page.
